Setting up and changing your points scheme

Your points scheme decides how many points a customer earns when they spend with you, and what those points are worth when they spend them back.

Before you start: Your merchant account needs a currency set (this comes from your locale settings). To exclude products from a policy, those products need to exist in your catalogue first.

Where to find it: Sidebar → Quick access → Points scheme. The page is headed Point scheme.

You have exactly one points scheme. You can't create a second one, and there's no way to delete the one you have — you edit it instead. The first time you open the page you'll see the set-up form; after that you'll always see the scheme itself.

Setting up your scheme for the first time

Steps

  1. Go to Quick accessPoints scheme. Because you don't have a scheme yet, the page shows a single card headed Set up points scheme.
  2. In Name, type a name for the scheme. This is what the scheme is called in your dashboard.
  3. Under Award policy, fill in Grant (how many points the customer earns) and For minimum spend of (the amount they have to spend to earn them).
  4. Under Redemption policy, fill in Convert (how many points the customer hands back) and To (the money value those points are worth).
  5. Click Create point scheme.

What happens next

You'll see "Point scheme saved" and the page reloads into the normal points scheme view: a narrow card on the left with your logo and scheme name, and a card on the right holding your Award policy and Redemption policy.

Each policy card shows the rate as a short sum — the money amount and the number of points, with = between them — so you can check at a glance what you've set.

Renaming your scheme

Steps

  1. On the left-hand card, click the edit button next to Point scheme name.
  2. In the Edit point scheme window, change Name.
  3. Click Save, or Cancel to leave it as it was.

What happens next

The window closes and you'll see "Point scheme saved". The new name appears on the left-hand card straight away.

Adding a logo

Steps

  1. On the left-hand card, click the round image placeholder above the scheme name.
  2. Choose an image file from your computer.

What happens next

The logo replaces the placeholder. The card notes Max file size: 1 MB underneath. To change it later, click the image again and pick a different file.

Changing the award or redemption rate

Steps

  1. On the Award policy or Redemption policy card, click the edit button next to the rate shown in the header.
  2. A window opens — Edit award policy or Edit redemption policy.
  3. For the award policy, set Grant and For minimum spend of. For the redemption policy, set Convert and To. The points box carries a Points tag on the right so you can tell the two boxes apart.
  4. Click Save, or Cancel to discard your changes.

What happens next

The window closes and you'll see "Award policy saved" or "Redemption policy saved". The rate in the card header updates immediately, and the new rate applies to sales taken from that point on.

Excluding products from a policy

Excluding a product from the award policy means buying it doesn't earn points. Excluding it from the redemption policy means points can't be spent against it. The two lists are separate — exclude a product from both if you want it left out of the scheme entirely.

Steps

  1. On the Award policy or Redemption policy card, click into the Excluded products box.
  2. Start typing a product name — the box searches your catalogue and shows matches as you type.
  3. Click a product to add it. Repeat for as many products as you need. To take one off the list, remove its chip.
  4. Close the dropdown when you've finished. Your changes are saved when the dropdown closes, not as you click each product.

What happens next

Each change is saved in turn as the list is written back. You'll see "SKU added" when a product has been added, and a message naming the product when one is removed — "Product … removed from excluded SKUs". The box is briefly greyed out while it saves.

If you close the dropdown without changing anything, nothing is saved and no message appears.
