Adding tax rates in the Wollette Merchant Dashboard ensures your sales comply with local tax. Create the taxes you charge — VAT and anything else — and the rates that go with them, so they can be attached to your products.
Where to find it: Back office → Taxes (or Quick access → Taxes in the sidebar)
The dialog is headed New tax and has two steps: Basic information and Tax rates.
20 for 20%.The tax exists from the moment you click Next. Clicking Cancel afterwards closes the dialog but does not remove it — if you didn't mean to create it, reopen it from the list and correct the details.
You'll see "Tax created" when you click Next, and "Tax rate added successfully" each time a rate is added. The rate appears at the top of the table straight away. When you click Save, the dialog closes and the tax appears in the Taxes list.
| Field | What to enter | Rules |
|---|---|---|
| Tax name | What the tax is called, e.g. VAT | Required, up to 100 characters, must be unique, can't start with a space |
| Description | What the tax applies to | Required, up to 100 characters, can't start with a space |
| Rate | The rate as a percentage — enter 20, not 0.2 | A number from 0 to 100; decimals allowed |
Update stays greyed out until you've changed the name or description, or added a rate.
You'll see "Tax updated successfully" and the list refreshes with the new details. Any product with this tax attached picks up the change.
Rates are dated rather than overwritten, so when your rate changes you add the new figure — you don't edit the old one.
You'll see "Tax rate added successfully". The new rate goes to the top of the table with today's date in the From column, and the rate it replaces gets that same date in its To column — so the table reads as a history of what you charged and when.
